Firewall is a network security system that monitors and controls incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined security rules. A firewall establishes a barrier between a trusted network and an untrusted network.
Absence is the new presence.
This is the third work from a series reflecting my own nonlinear migration trajectory between russia and europe and the relating topics of identity, political and cultural borders and boundaries and lack of freedom of movement, fragmented belonging, impossibility of integration, impossibility of fully leave or fully return somewhere.
The work is employing movement modalities of a body that shape shifts between abstraction, character and realness. Dramaturgy is based on optic illusions of shifting planes and geographical montage of an online map. Interaction of the body with the map creates a space that invokes political contexts without directly presenting political narratives, provoking the spectator to actively and critically reflect on their own relation to their real or virtual presence at various localities.
